Living without Internet

How long time can you survive without...

With this info graphic I've tried to show how very familiar elements the audience is used to see can suddenly have a funny content. My idea was to create a very light, simple and familiar graphic that doesn't look funny - I've for instance not used any decoration - to make the joke completely clear and give it a hint of seriousness and authority through the use of a familiar way of showing data.

I created a very tight grid and chose only four matching colors (five if the background is included) in order to make it even more simple - and the colors of course show the difference in how long a Person can live without the different things.

It is a very unidimensional, novel and familiar graphic - the only thing that makes it a bit original is the use of "boring" and traditional illustrations to show a joke.

  1. Hi Rikke! I like the irony this graphic shows because, sadly, it's true that we are too dependent on the Internet. I also agree with you that by making the graphic very simple and plain the message is more directly transmitted to the view. Maybe you could have changed the font in the title, to break a little bit with this uniformity.
    Anyway, good job!

  2. hy, i really find this graphic funny because it has an old school character and reminds me about the nintendo and the games tetris or tenis where the main characters of the game were represented in form of bricks.
maybe that is also the reason why the designer used the simple symbols and colors according to the simple topic which is easy to understand when looking at the graphic.
i totally agree with your explanation of the graphic and thank you for the good example, because it reminded me a little bit about my childhood.
